Tommy joined Lunar Exploration Education in early 2018 and is one of the early designers of the Lunar School competency model. He introduced a performance assessment (PA) system supported by the Stanford University education evaluation team and led the development of the "Standards for Excellent Teacher Teaching Competencies," which involved in-depth participation from experts from Peking University, Beijing Normal University, Beijing No. 11 School, and Peking University High School. In 2023, he initiated the operations of the Innovation Center. He graduated with a master's degree in Educational Psychology from Beijing Normal University, with research interests including personality theory, career development and personal growth, education and psychological measurement, and multivariate data analysis.
He is responsible for planning the educational product line of the Innovation Center, managing the R&D team, and monitoring teaching quality. He is committed to integrating resources both within and outside Lunar Exploration to develop and implement educational products aimed at cultivating "internally abundant and positively proactive technology innovators."
He focuses on research and practice in the field of science and technology education, which includes: future-oriented competency model development for science and technology, design and optimization of PBL (Project-Based Learning) experiences in the science and technology field, design of performance assessment tasks for science and technology competencies, socio-emotional learning experiences in science and technology classes, development of reusable paradigms for science and technology curriculum construction, design of science and technology products based on AI tools, and development and support systems for the professional capabilities of science and technology teachers.
Outside of work, Tommy is a father of two children and uses innovation methodologies to create unique toys suitable for their developmental stages. He is also an avid rock climber, visiting various climbing gyms at least twice a week, with over 15 years of climbing experience. His highest difficulty on natural rock walls is the "Hard Injury" route in the Baihe NB Canyon of Beijing, rated 5.13b in Yosemite and graded 8a in French difficulty.
