Middle School Science teacher, Advisor

The topics that interested me most during my Master of Education in advanced teaching were Curriculum design, creating positive classroom environments, Education in context, and Learning theories. A Bachelor Of Education gave me a better understanding of Child Psychology, Educational Philosophies, and methods of teaching Science. I had a Science background from my high school to get a university degree in Science (Bachelor of Science), which helped me bring the wonders of science to the classroom.

For the majority of the 25 years of my teaching practice, I have taught senior high students and various curricula - CIE (IGCSE, AS/A level Physics), NGSS(all 4 HS Sciences), AP Physics, and IB (MYP Science). I have worked in international schools in many countries in the Asian subcontinent and visited as a guest in schools in Australia, Canada, and the USA.

I like challenging myself to learn new skills apart from teaching and learning, which led me to take up administrative roles such as Conducting professional development programs for teachers, Science subject coordinators, Grade leaders, Homeroom teachers, dorm parents, Student counselors, Housemasters, Cultural and field trip program planner and director, etc.

I joined Moonshot Academy in 2023 as the Grade 6 science teacher and currently, I am teaching Science to the same students in Grade 7. I am also an advisor to a small group of Grade 7 students and work in the supportive role of an assistant grade head.

My area of interest is research on world cultures and traditions - past, present, and future. Personal Hobbies would be listening to music, exploring existing vegetarian food, travel, Sudoku, etc.

For the past 25 years, my educational philosophy has been to inspire students as well as teachers to become open-minded, logical thinkers who will work towards the betterment of society as a whole and as an extended part of oneself. I believe that teaching is just a small part of education and it encompasses a lot many things for the development of the body, mind, and soul.

The competency model of MSA has many of these aspects embedded in its 3 layers in the form of core competencies, content knowledge and practice, and habits of mind. Based on this model, I want students to develop a strong foundation in science and use it to explore new interests.

I believe that self-discipline in human beings helps them with focus, diligence, time management, bringing balance in mind and body (critical and creative thinking), and, helping in social-emotional development. These are very important for the well-being of our students, who are the future of the world.
